VINARTE Villa Zorilor Merlot

DENOMINATION OF ORIGIN: D.O.C. – C.M.D. Dealu Mare – Zoresti

PRODUCER: the wine is produced and bottled at Villa Zorilor Winery – Vinarte and aged in oak barrels for 6 months.

CLIMATE: temperate – continental with characteristic parameters for the South-Carpathian wine-growing ecological region.

SOIL: rendzinic - argillic soils of the type reddish brown, varying between weakly and strongly eroded, with traces of calcium carbonate, clayey and clayey -argillaceous textures.

VARIETY: Merlot 100%

ALCOHOL CONTENT: 14,00% vol.

VINIFICATION: the parcels producing the grapes destined to this wine offer optimal climate and soil conditions. The harvesting is done by hand, and at the same time a quality selection is being made. Next come the crushing and de-stemming. The must is fermented into temperature controlled stainless steel tanks; during this period the carefully monitored maceration also takes place. Subsequently, the wine is racked into barrels where the malolactic fermentation and maturation for 6-9 months take place, and then the wine is bottled.

TASTING NOTES: Visually: clear, bright, intense ruby red, with purple reflections. Olfactory: ripe red fruit, aromas of coffee and spices, slight notes of vanilla and wood. Gustative: dry, intense, full-bodied, good texture, well- balanced tannins, long, lingering finish.

GASTRONOMIC ASSOCIATIONS: the optimum drinking temperature is of 16o C. It is recommended to accompany red meats, small game, traditional Romanian red meat-based dishes and mature cheeses.

AGING POTENTIAL: the wine may be aged in bottles (4-6 years), in cellar conditions, thus acquiring a velvety texture and a complex bouquet.
