VINARTE Terase Danubiene Negru de Drăgăşani

DENOMINATION OF ORIGIN: D.O.C. – C.M.D. Mehedinti – Starmina

PRODUCER: the wine is produced and bottled at Starmina Winery – Vinarte and aged in oak barrels for 6 months.

CLIMATE: temperate – continental with Mediterranean influences.

SOIL: argillaceous alluvial with gravel, sand and marl sediments.

VARIETY: Negru de Drăgăşani 95%, Novac 5%.

ALCOHOL CONTENT: 13,50% vol.

VINIFICATION: manual harvesting in plastic crates, de-stemming and crushing, the must is pumped into temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks where it is seeded with yeasts to complete the alcoholic fermentation, followed by the racking of the wine and the completion of the malolactic fermentation in French oak barrels, where it is refined by a maturing period of about 6 months.

TASTING NOTESVisually: clear, bright, intense ruby ​​red, with violet hues. Olfactory: intense, aromas of black cherries and forest fruit, hints of spices. Gustative: dry, full-bodied, strong and balanced, with round tannins, fruity notes and a persistent finish.

GASTRONOMIC ASSOCIATIONS: the optimum drinking temperature is of 15o C. One may serve it with salami and sausages, red meats, small game, traditional Romanian red meat-based dishes, fresh cheeses.

AGING POTENTIAL: the wine may be aged in bottles (3-4 years), thus acquiring a velvety texture and a more complex bouquet.
