VINARTE Terase Danubiene Merlot

DENOMINATION OF ORIGIN: D.O.C. – C.M.D. Mehedinti – Starmina

PRODUCER: the wine is produced and bottled at Starmina Winery – Vinarte and aged in oak barrels for 6 months.

CLIMATE: temperate – continental with Mediterranean influences.

SOIL: argillaceous alluvial with gravel and sand sediments, and in higher areas and on slopes, eroded reddish-brown and regosol.

VARIETY: Merlot 95%, Cabernet Sauvignon 5%.

ALCOHOL CONTENT: 13,00% vol.

VINIFICATION: manual harvesting in plastic crates, de-stemming and crushing, the must is pumped into temperature controlled stainless steel tanks where it is seeded with yeasts to complete the alcoholic fermentation, followed by the racking of the wine and the completion of the malolactic fermentation in French oak barrels, where it is refined by a maturing period of about 6-9 months.

TASTING NOTESVisually: clear, bright, intense ruby ​​red, with purple hues. Olfactory: intense, aromas like ripe forest fruit, prunes, caramel, hints of fine spices. Gustative: dry, full-bodied, strong and balanced, with round tannins and an intense finish

GASTRONOMIC ASSOCIATIONS: the optimum drinking temperature is of 17o C. It is recommended to accompany red meats, small or feathered game, traditional Romanian red meat-based dishes, mature cheeses.

AGING POTENTIAL: the wine may be aged in bottles (3-5 years), thus acquiring a velvety texture and a more complex bouquet.
