VILLA ZORILOR Feteasca Neagra

DENOMINATION OF ORIGIN:  DOC-CMD Dealu Mare; ROMANIA
 
CELLAR:  The wine is produced and bottled at Villa Zorilor - Vinarte Winery.

CLIMATE: Temperate-Continental, with characteristic parameters for the South Carpathian ecological region.

SOIL: reddish-brown rendzinic-argillic soils, from slightly to strongly eroded, with traces of calcium carbonate and clayey and argillaceous textures.

VARIETY: Fetească Neagră 100%

ALCOHOL CONTENT: 13,00% vol.

VINIFICATION: The parcels producing the grapes destined for this variety offer optimal climate and soil conditions. The harvesting is done by hand, and at the same time a quality selection is being made. Next come the crushing and de-stemming. The must ferments in temperature-controlled stainless steel cisterns, during the same period the carefully-monitored maceration also takes place. Then the wine is racked into barriques, where the malolactic fermentation and maturation take place for 6 – 9 months, then the wine is bottled. 
 
TASTING NOTES: Appearance: clear, bright ruby-red color, violet-purplish reflexes. Nose: Fresh aromas, of sour cherries and forest fruit and spices. Palate: dry, with good texture and acidity, pleasant astringency, rich tannins, intense aftertaste.

SERVING SUGGESTIONS: the optimum serving temperature is of 16 ºC. One may serve it with red meat dishes, small-sized venison, traditional Romanian meat-based dishes or mature cheeses.

AGING POTENTIAL: the wine may be aged in bottles (3-5 years) in cellar conditions, thus acquiring a velvety texture and a complex bouquet.
